CLASS INFORMATION

INTENSIVE ESL
(TOEFL PREP)

Morning or Afternoon ESL Classes (3 hours per day)

This intensive program is based on half days which run from Monday to Friday. The program emphasizes practical speaking, listening, reading, vocabulary and writing skills. Students will participate in activities focused on themes such as Canadian community, Canadian environment and culture, as well as British Columbia. Students are assessed at the beginning of every program. Students will be tested weekly and receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of each session.

Morning session: 9:00am - 12:30pm
Afternoon session: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Duration: 4 weeks
Cost: $375 per week

Full Day Intensive ESL Program

Students will be immersed in English as a second language classes and taught necessary and useful skills for success in the regular school system. Topics of instruction include required vocabulary and grammar for science and math. Students will also learn about Canadian history, geography and culture as background information for social studies. Students will learn successful study skills such as note taking, test preparation, test taking, paragraph structure and essay writing as well as all other relevant skills needed for success in regular school. Students will be assessed at the beginning of every program. Also, students will be tested weekly and receive a Certificate of Completion and a report card at the end of each course.

Duration: 4 weeks
Cost: $1,500 per session

English Preparation: Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 (100 hour course)

These English Prep courses are designed to help students prepare for high school English. All our teachers have University Degrees and/or TESL diplomas. Students will participate in response journals, paragraph, essay and creative writing, group discussion, presentations and poetry reading, short stories and novels. Students are assessed at the beginning of every program. Students will be expected to do daily homework assignments and daily reading assignments. In addition, students will be tested weekly and receive a Certificate of Completion and a report card.

English Prep 9 - Suitable for students who have completed grade 8
English Prep 10 - Suitable for students who have completed grade 9
English Prep 11 - Suitable for students who have completed grade 10
English Prep 12 - Suitable for students who have completed grade 11

WINTER AND SUMMER INTENSIVE ESL CAMP

ISE Academy’s highly acclaimed short-term intensive study/tour programs are available during winter (January/February) and summer (July/August) school breaks through our Coquitlam Campus. Upon special request we have also designed programs for groups throughout the year. Please contact us if you would like us to help you to design a special program for your group.

In our programs, we give students the opportunity:

Typically students will:

  Spend the morning in the classroom for their English studies
Go on field trips in the afternoon
The Vancouver Aquarium, Waterslides Park, camping during the summer or typically, winter programs include a ski-trip to one of Vancouver's beautiful local mountains.
We create a CD/DVD in order for our students to have everlasting memories of their experience in Canada

Students will make international friendships for their life. In the summer we also have Canadian students participating in the classes and activities.
